So here are the rules:

Okay so the book closest to me didn't have five sentences so I grabbed the next closest:

Okay there were some surprises on the list (like Where's Waldo? Still a bit confused on that one, and who knew Judy Blume was so objectionable) but then on the other hand some people will ban anything. It does bring to question whether or not they've actually read it before banning it.

I think there are some notables that seem to not have made this list but I just have the feeling that they've been banned SOMEwhere...

Gaelen vel Serranris from CL Wlison'a Fading Lands: Biggest of the Bad boy fey. He was a completely wicked sense of humor, and the Fey need his superior skills if they are to survive the upcoming war.


Thanks to Alice's Choice of Demona, I had to pick Goliath: from the cartoon Garloyles. A guardian of the night and leader to the Gargoyles, minus Demona. He fights be keep his small clan free and happy as well as protect humans from Demona.

Gideon: From the Nightwalker series by Jacquelyn Frank. The eldest and strongest healer. Wasn't my favorite of the Nightwalker but he's name starts with G. Gildeon is the eldest of the remain demons and must find a mate in order to survive.



And who hasn't heard of about Gandalf, wizard extraodinaire from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. He must out think Sauron and Saruman, the great evil and his minion, in order to keep Middle Earth out of the hands of evil. He does this with wisdom and great power and he uses those powers for good and betterment of all races.

Is Friday the 13th an evil, unlucky day?

How it all started. During the aftermath of the First Crusade of 1096, in the middle ages, a group of knights founded the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, better known throughout history as the Knights Templar. It was originally founded to ensure the safety of European pilgrims to the Holy Land.

The original nine Knights Templar, led by Godfrey de Saint-Omer and Hugues de Payens, requested and were granted headquarters on the Temple Mount. Temple Mount is above what is believed to the remains of the Temple of Solomom. During their time there some believe the knights unearth a great treasure. This treasure is proposed to be the reason to their rapid rise of power in the Catholic Church. With the help of Bernard of Clairvaux, the Knights Templar were official sanctioned by the Catholic Church in 1129.

With the endorsement and blessings of the Catholic Church, the Knights Templar quickly rose in power and wealth, as well as prestige. The Knights Templar were granted additional power in 1139, when Pope Innocent II exempted the Knights Templar from obedience to local laws. This allowed the Knights Templar to move freely and exempt from taxes and all authority except that of the Pope.

As Muslim forces were beginning to win land and battles, the Knights Templar split into two Orders, the Knights Hospitaller and the Teutonic Knights. The Orders military mission became less important and support began to fade. When the Crusades were lost, the Order expanded their business ventures.

In 1305, the two Orders began to discuss recombining the original Knights Templar. This was not favored by then Pope Clement V and King Phillip IV of France, who at the time owed a great deal of money to the Knights. King Philip wanting to free himself from debt pressured the Church into taking action against the Knights.

On Friday, 13 October 1307, King Phillip ordered the arrest of the Templar Grand Master Jacques de Molay and all other Templars in France. The Templars were charged with heresies and tortured to extract false confessions of blasphemy. Using these confessions King Phillip of France burned the Templars at the stake.

The horrors that followed the arrest made on Friday the 13 of October 1307 were so great, the unluckiness of the day is still remembered today. Although the exact date is rarely remembered, Friday the 13 still incite feelings of unrest and discomfort to some.

Is Friday the 13 unlucky? It is not unless you are a Knight of the Order of the Temple with an angry, vengeful king who owes you money after you.

HLO Pleads to DIK to Free the Heroes

Now that the DIK draft has been completed, the HLO sends a plea out to the DIK to release their "captive" heroes and allow them to return to their storybook homes and heroines (after a short stop at the Hero Shelter/Get-Away to recover from their ordeal... or think of excuses as to what they did on their vacation ^_~). We would welcome our DIK sisters with open arms (and we would share our books, chocolates, rum and vacationing heroes).

All over the storybook worlds, evil is running amok without the heroes to fight the ongoing forces of evil. The headquarters of the HLO (Get-Away Island) is over-flowing with heroines who have lost their heroes. Extra shipments of chocolates have been ordered to keep the heroines (and founder Alice and myself) calm. Some of the hero creators (Nalini Singh and Meljean Brook) have joined in our cause to help "liberate" their heroes from the clutches of the DIK.

The Heroes Liberation Organization (HLO) was founded by Alice and myself in response to the mysterious disappearances of heroes. Many of romances best heroes had started to disappear and their heroines, in growing concern, needed aid to find and reunite with their heroes.

After some investigation, it was discovered that an organization known as the Desert Island Keeper (DIK) had "drafted" heroes and brought to the DIK island where they were being taught un-hero-like tasks. Instead of fighting evil and the forces of darkness, the heroes were being taught how to give massages, dusting furniture and performing other un-hero-like activities. The hero draft continues:

After witnessing the horrors of the island, brave island insider Alice as joined me to found the HLO. Our manifesto is to:

1. Create and maintain the Desert Island Keepers Hero Shelter and Liberation Get-Away.
2. Protect and shelter heroes from DIK
   
3. Liberate the heroes from their bondage.
4. Reunite the heroes with their heroines.
5. Help heroes readjust to the sane world.
6. Drink foo-foo drinks made from our natural spring water.
