Life in Indiana

It's been a while since I last posted. So here's an update for all of you (just in case you were wondering what in the heck's been going on in my ever so exciting (not!) life).

First there was the misery that is the flu. I think I was probably one of the first to get it in my neck of the woods. I'm so lucky!

*sigh*

So with the help of my good friend Cindy, I was able to get back on my feet after a week of bed rest (so not fun and I didn't even want to read any of my books!).

Now everyone at work is blaming me for the flu that is spreading like wildfire throughout the building. *sigh* Of course they cannot blame the swine flu on me as I didn't have that particular strain (at least I don't think I did but don't know of sure as I did not go to the doctors).

I discovered that there is a branch of my bank in Indiana (yay!) but it was over an hour away (boo!). I went and deposited by first paycheck and relocation money. Got home and checked the mail and wouldn't you know it there was another check (yay! Money in is always good) in it! *sigh* Now am trying to decide whether or not to open a bank account in one of the local banks so that I can cash checks and use the ATM (for free!).

Woke up early over the weekend and thought I should do the grocery shopping while I still had the energy for it (this flu really sucked). It was a nice brisk morning. I got into my car, started it and discovered that it wasn't dew on the car but ice!

ICE!!!!! In October!!!! *pout*

It so doesn't do that where I came from (at least not until December or January). This whole weather thing sucks. I am not looking forward to "real" winter. Of course everyone around has been getting a great laugh at my whole indignant attitude toward this phenomenon.

And snow! No matter what they try to tell you - snow in October is not normal. Usually it hits around Thanksgiving-ish.

The flu is pretty terrible all over. So even if you still lived out west, you may not have escaped it. I have a coworker who sounds like a 3-pack-a-day smoker right now, and I've essentially been chanting voodoo spells and ringing my cubicle with garlic hoping to avoid catching it....

OH hon I'm so sorry to hear about you having the flu! ((BIG HUGS)) that sucks but glad you are feeling better now. ACK ICE in OCT. yeah that would have thrown me too.

Oh, harsh! Is that your car? What a shock that must've been.

Wendy/CJ: Picture is not of my car (random picture thanks to Google). And there wasn't snow. But lots and lots of ice. Grr...

JennJ: thanks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get another strain. Three people at work have been out with the Swine Flu!

Sorry to see you've been sick. Hope you get back to 100% soon. As for the cold. I love the cold. Can't get enough of it, especially living in Texas. Send some of that cold weather this way. :)

Oh you poor thing. I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you continue to stay well!

It was unseasonably cold in New Jersey the last week or so, too... I think this winter weather in mid October was a fluke for both of us.

Hang in there!

Am so sorry to hear you had the flu, and were off work for a week! Am glad you are feeling better now. Ice in October doesn't bode well for the winter IMO. It's spring here and all it does is keep raining - it's raining now! I love rain, but I would like some sun to mow the lawns/weed the vegetable garden :)

Hmmm - this may be a silly question but can't your work pay you by direct credit?

I am sorry to hear that you had the flu. That really does suck! Daughter had it and had to miss a week of school. I am just glad that it was not H1N1 you had. Then to wake you with "Dew"... that has to suck too!! And it is only October!
Well, honey I hope it only gets better!
I hope your weekend is better!

WOW I hope you’re feeling better! That must have been some bug to keep you out of work for a whole week!!

I bet that ice is coming as a culture shock coming from California! It’s been up and down w/ the weather here (60’s to 80’s). But if I look out the window I can see a rainbow :o)

I hope you're feeling better. That flu that's going around is harsh. So good to hear you made it through.

Ack -look at that ice! Hope you had a scraper handy...or a bucket of cold water. As long as it's not too cold to re-freeze it! :)

Thanks for the update.

I WAS wondering about how you were doing. The update was nice. Since I have family spread all over the U.S. I knew a lot of places were getting snow and ice already. The first winter is always hard because you really don't know what to expect. Here's hoping you have a mild one this year.
