Good News and Bad News

Good New:
For those of you who have been following this blog, you know that I have been out looking for work as its required so that I can have book money! Yes I work for books, a place to put all my books and the occasion meal.

I'm happy to say that I will be officially employed once more by Monday (have to look over the offer letter details and other paper work). And thus I will be relocating to Bloomington, Indiana. The home of IU (uh... I think they are the Hoosiers so uh... Go Hoosiers? I so suck at staying in touch with sports). So now I will need to determine how fast I can move and get settled so that I can start earning that lovely book money.

I gave in. I'm now on Twitter. Am ShaymlessAymles (damn Twitter wouldn't let me add another 's' and Aymless was already taken. *pout*)

Bad News:
My roommate, best furry friend, sanity and furry baby has cancer and doesn't have long to live. Currently she is on pain killers to help her eat but even then she is not eating much. So now I must look at euthanasia options. And probably within the next week. I'm not sure I want to put her through the stress of moving on top of what she's suffering now. Do I move her or let her go now? It's a hard decision.

We've been together nearly 13 years and countless ups and downs. She was a scrawny little kitten/cat (not quite a kitten and not yet full grown) when she wandered into my yard and life. After a couple of weeks of eating on my porch, she moved in and took over my bed and stole my heart. And there she stayed. She's been a great cat and friend. I will miss her greatly, my lovely furry purr ball, my little mountain lion, my Terraine.

Such news! Congrats on getting a job! I love the midwest so I hope that it's as great for you as it is for me!

On the sad front...I'm so sorry about your kitty cat. It's so hard to have to let go of a friend like that. Hang in there sweetie.

Thanks Tracy. Am a bit scared about leaving the west coast, oh hell, CA. Since I've never lived more than 30 minutes from the ocean! Great fear:

1. What do I have to do for my car if it gets really cold?

2. And does that happen in IN?

Crazy huh?

I'm hanging by the tips of my fingers. Still very weepy about it all.

Glad to hear about your new job!! But so sorry about your kitty. So sad, she sounds like an awesome furry friend. :(

Can't help you much on the Midwest terrain questions, I live down in sweaty hot Texas. LOL! But I'm betting you will need to get your car winterized. Most oil change places will do that for you when you get your oil changed, i.e. antifreeze. And that is the extent of my car care knowledge.

Good luck on your new job and move!

(((Aymless))) - for both the job and the kitty (BTW - I love the photo; she's gorgeous!)

I am very happy that you have a job (although I had to look up a map so I knew exactly where Indiana was :)

I think you should ask your vet what he/she thinks about taking your cat with you. They would have the best advice. And I am sure you will do what is right for her and you...but it's not easy *hugs*

Oh I am soooooo excited about your new job!!!!! Alittle sad about the move, I can olny imagine how it feels to move out of town, much less out of state! But I know it will be for the good!

About your precious baby... I am so sorry to hear about her. I will keep her in my prayers!~

I'm sorry about you cat, Aymless. I know it's very difficult to lose a friend. ((((Hugs!!))))

& Congratulations on the new job!

First - congrats on the new job! Yippee!

Second - I'm sorry to hear about your kitty :( I'm assuming the cancer is terminal, it's just a matter of when she'll pass? If that's the case, I'd be inclined to look into euthanasia. For me it would come down to her quality of life, and how stressful the move would be on her 1) at her age and 2) given that she's not 100% healthy. Best of luck my friend. It's a hard decision.

As for your car in Indiana? Coming from a Michigan girl - good tires. Good tires are a MUST! Also, make sure you get your routine maintenance done. Spark plugs and batteries tend to dislike extreme temperatures - both hot and cold. Ironically enough, I've gone through more car batteries out here in hot as hell So. Cal. than I ever did in the freezing cold MI winters.

WOO HOO on the new job! Going from Cali to Indiana is quite the trip. :D

So, so sorry about your kittie :(

Donna: Thanks. Will have to look into before I leave here. Maybe get a checkup at the dealer too.

Orannia: The vet only gave her a couple of weeks tops. She's on pain meds and still barely eats. *sniff* And yeah. She's the prettiest kitty ever.

Cecile: I'm gonna miss the area for sure and all my friends but am looking forward to making some new ones as well.

Heidenkind: Thanks

Wendy: Yes she's terminal. Only weeks as this point. And thanks. I've been meaning to talk to the Toyota folks. I think something up with my little Prius's batteries. Will have to put that on the moving list.

KB: I'm getting closer to Mho! ^_^ And thanks.

Hey there! First, I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. How sad.

Second, congrats on your job! IU is my alma mater, and Bloomington is an amazing town. Great restaurants, great music scene. I love Cali, but I'd live in B-ton again in a heartbeat. It does get cold in winter, but nothing like Michigan winters. Good tires and an ice scraper are nice to have, but you won't need to worry about it for several months yet.

It's been a while since I lived there, but feel free to email if I can help at all!

Tessa: Thanks will do. *add ice scraper to list*

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat! My uncle's a vet who's studying feline cancer and he says it's a rough trip, so my prayers and sympathies are with you.

Hurray for the new job, though!

Congratulations on the new job! Wow... and a move to an inland state, too!

I'm sorry to hear about your beautiful cat, and agree with Wendy's advice, above. Euthanasia is such a personal and difficult decision, but no matter what your decision, both take a lot of love and bravery.

CONGRATS!!! I'm so glad to hear about your job and I've lived close to that area before and I can tell you the people are really good folks - open, friendly, I think you'll enjoy the experience. Well, I won't kid you - the snow thing kinda sucks, but heh new experience right?

Sorry about Terraine. I lost my Danner kitty 5 years ago to cancer after 16 years of friendship. The pain and starvation was to much to watch. Once his Doctor said the pills weren't doing much for him, I was prolonging his pain, I let him go. I wish you peace and a safe journey.

Hello Aymless,

First off big congrats on your new job! And I wish you a safe move hon.

Also I'm so so sorry to hear about your dear kitty. I have three myself and I know they are just like family. It's heartbreaking when they are sick or you loose one. I wish you and your sweet and beautiful baby the very best. And I pray God takes her gently into the palm of his hand when it is her time to go. BIG HUGS hon.

I'm late - but I'm SO happy for you on the job news!!! Happy dance, happy dance.
And ((((((big hugs))))))) about your furry friend. Having two myself, I know how important they are to us.
